Kinesiology Taping

What is kinesiology taping?

Kinesiology taping is a therapeutic technique that involves the application of elastic tape to specific areas of the body to support and facilitate the natural healing process.

The tape used in this method is made from a stretchy, breathable material that mimics the elasticity of human skin. Kinesiology taping is based on the principles of kinesiology, which involves the study of body movement and mechanics.

During the application of kinesiology tape, the tape is strategically placed over muscles, joints, or other target areas, providing support without restricting movement. The tape is thought to lift the skin, creating space that may reduce pressure on the underlying tissues and enhance blood and lymphatic circulation.

This technique is commonly used in sports and rehabilitation settings to manage injuries, reduce pain, and support muscles and joints during physical activity. Athletes often use kinesiology taping to aid in injury prevention and to promote optimal performance. Additionally, the tape is designed to be water-resistant and can be worn for several days, allowing for continuous therapeutic support.
